Miami Beach Convention Center still needs voter approval

Commissioners picked South Beach ACE for project

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The company pegged to redevelop the Miami Beach Convention Center must still get voter approval for its project.

Last week, Miami Beach city commissioner selected South Beach ACE to overhaul its aging convention center.

South Beach ACE met Tuesday to discuss its plan with city officials and other stakeholders involved.

"We think that we've pegged the exact right scope and the exact right size of the project and the right vision for the community and it's one that we think matches quite well with the city of Miami Beach's future as a home for iconic design, tourism, and residential hospitality," said Jeff Weinstein with South Beach ACE.

The proposal will go before voters in November.
