Miami Beach man accused of impersonating law enforcement officer

Christopher Jones entered apartment, told group he was US marshal, police say

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man from Miami Beach was arrested Thursday after he walked into an apartment and told the people inside that he was a law enforcement officer conducting a drug bust, police said.

According to an arrest report, Christopher Jones, 46, walked into the unlocked front door of an apartment unit at 90 Alton Road and told the people inside, "I am a United States marshal (and) I am here for a drug sting."

Police said one of the victims confronted Jones and several others walked out of a bedroom, at which time Jones said, "All clear here," and walked out.

Security officers on the first floor said Jones was sweating profusely and was carrying a gun.

Police arrested Jones, who they said claimed that he never exposed his gun, which he said was in a holster inside his pocket.

Jones faces charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and armed burglary.
