MIAMI-DADE, Fla. - Miami-Dade County residents may be in for a tax hike next year after Mayor Carlos Gimenez revealed his 2013-14 fiscal year budget on Tuesday.

The $6.35 billion budget is 2.8 percent higher than this year's budget, and includes millage rate increases to maintain current fire and library services.

The budget also funds the voter-approved no-kill animal services shelter.

If approved by commissioners, the owner of a $150,000 home in unincorporated Miami-Dade County would pay $76 more in property taxes next year.

Gimenez said his budget doesn't call for any layoffs or cuts to employee benefits.
