Miami-Dade officer, husband accused of stealing county gas

Patrol officer charged with organized scheme to defraud, third-degree grand theft

MIAMI - Authorities say a Miami-Dade police officer and her husband were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly filled their personal cars with gas from a county fueling facility.

Investigators told Local 10 that patrol officer Rose Stabio, 41, has been charged with organized scheme to defraud and third-degree grand theft.

Stabio's husband, 31-year-old Giomar Picon, was also charged. Officials said Picon is a security guard and former Sweetwater police officer.

Stabio and Picon used a county gas card that was meant to fill up her police patrol car at a south Miami-Dade County fuel facility, Detective Roy Rutland with the Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed to Local 10.

The alleged theft happened over several months and amounted to hundreds of dollars, investigators say. The theft was also captured on hidden surveillance video.
