MIAMI - The Miami-Dade School Board is expected to appoint Ian Moffett as its new police chief Wednesday during a special board meeting, according to an agenda posted to the schools' website.

Moffett, who is currently a major with the Miami Police Department, was recommended by Superintendent Albert Carvalho.

Moffett will replace former Chief Charles Hurley, who resigned in February after allegations of sexual harassment that were later cleared by district investigators.

Moffett worked previously for the Miami-Dade School Police Department for 15 years in various management positions.

During the Wednesday meeting, the board will review the superintendent's annual recommendations to realign and reorganize staff, principals and vice principals.
