Miami police distribute flyers in abduction, sexual assault

Couple abducts, rapes 11-year-old girl

MIAMIMiami police distributed flyers at Charles Hadley Park on Friday as they search for a couple who abducted, then raped an 11-year-old girl.

The girl was abducted near Northwest 15th Avenue and 50th Street on June 6 while walking home from school. A camera at a home along Northwest 15th Avenue captured video of a grey sport utility vehicle that police believed the captors used.

"This happened in broad daylight. We want to get these people before they strike again," Miami Police Det. Freddie Cruz said Wednesday.

The girl returned home about four hours later -- bruised and scared. She told police the man lured her into a light-blue sport utility vehicle that a woman was driving, then drove her far away to a house she described as junky (sketch pictured below). The man raped her, then brought her back to the neighborhood.

Police released sketches of the couple. He is described as tall and heavy set with spiked hair and tattoos on his arms, and was last seen wearing a green shirt, khaki shorts and black shoes. A woman with him is described as having purple or dark-burgundy hair.

The family said they received calls from others describing near abductions after the incident.

"This is somebody's daughter, somebody's sister. This is a member of the community," said Cruz. "We need to put these people behind bars. We can't have another victim fall prey to these animals, these savages."

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Miami Police Department's Special Victim's Unit at 305-603-6300 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-4877.
