SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A Texas mother accused of killing her 4-year-old daughter told police she did not call 911 because her cell phone was low on minutes.

WAGA reports Jessica Briones, 34, of San Antonio was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of causing injuries to her daughter.

Briones' daughter suffered from arm, face and head injuries when first seen by medical personnel. Briones explained that she accidentally slammed the girl's arm in a door, but failed to explain the other injuries.

The girl died a day later.

Doctors say the girl had multiple brain bleeds and swelling.

Instead of calling 911 immediately, Briones says she brought her daughter to a police substation because she couldn't find her phone and was "low on minutes."

Briones now faces up to 99 years in prison if convicted of the crime.
