WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A man was struck by a Tri-Rail train Monday night after he reportedly jumped from the train on which he was on to recover the cell phone he'd left behind, according to officials.

The incident happened around 8:11 p.m. at the Palm Beach Tri-Rail station after the 32-year-old man reportedly pulled the emergency cord, pushed out the emergency exit window, and jumped while the train was still moving.

The man was hit by another train after he jumped, according to Bonnie Arnold from Tri-Rail. He was then taken to St. Mary's Medical Center.

Officials believe the man may have left his cell phone on a bench and pulled the cord just as the train was pulling out.

The man is said to be in extremely critical condition.
