OAKLAND PARK, Fla. - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train Thursday morning in Oakland Park.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives said the fatal crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. near Prospect Road and Powerline Road.

The man, later identified as Robert Gray, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Westbound traffic on Commercial Boulevard was closed near the train tracks during the death investigation.

A bus bridge has been set up between the Cypress Creek and Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail stations for commuters.

Gray was a father of three and was the sole provider of the household. Gray's relative set up a GoFundMe account for those wishing to help them.
