KENDALL, Fla. - Miami-Dade police are debunking a social media hoax that children were abducted at Dadeland Mall.

The bogus abduction case spread quickly across the social media site Instagram on Monday.

The fake posting stated: "Three kids just got kidnapped in a car from Dadeland Mall in a gray Toyota Rav4, license plate FWC650. The parents are desperate. Please pass it on and report if you see this car."

On Monday afternoon, Miami-Dade Police released the following statement: "The Miami-Dade Police Department has received information about a message being circulated on social media sites claiming that there has been a kidnapping in Dadeland Mall... at this time, the Miami-Dade Police Department has not received any reports to substantiate these claims."
