Salgar worked as a bartender at several popular hipster bars and he was a musician, who enjoyed playing at Churchill's Pub in Little Haiti and Stage in the Design District.

Although he preferred punk rock, he admired Billie Holiday, Paul Simon, Chet Baker, John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald. He liked listening to the Misfits, Joy Division, The Smiths, Pixies, Cypress Hill and Radiohead.

Police said that when Salgar arrived at his home, 8551 NE Eighth Ct., near Miami's El Portal, there was a burglary in progress. Martinez was inside, police said.

Henderson said on Facebook that "once he entered, he was fatally shot, and his car was used by the criminals to flee."

Palm Beach police officers found Salgar's Honda Accord near the Breakers Hotel, 1. S. County Rd. Detectives identified Martinez as a suspect and there was a warrant out for his arrest.Ā

When St. Augustine Beach police officers spotted Martinez, he was armed with a machete.Ā  They listed him as homeless, and as an out-of-state fugitive. St. Johns County listed him as an out-of-county fugitive. Martinez was facing a probation violation and second-degree murder.
