Police: Gunman shot 3, killed himself

Roberta Sousa shot neighbor, 2 other men

MIAMI – Police identified a gunman who investigators say shot three men -- killing two of them -- before committing suicide.

Roberto Sousa shot and killed his neighbor, 56-year-old Elio Acosta, in the 10500 block of Northwest 36th Place about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Miami-Dade police.

Sousa, 72, then shot two men sitting on the front porch of a home in the 10300 block of Northwest 35th Avenue. He killed 79-year-old Jesus Fernandez. The other man, 77-year-old Miguel Enriquez, was airlifted to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

A third man on the porch ran into the house.

Officers then found Sousa and his car in the 15200 block of Southwest 177th Avenue. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and police found a weapon matching the description of the one used in the previous two shootings next to his body.

Police haven't released a motive. Neighbors said Sousa had been fighting with other neighbors, and recently argued with Acosta about his mother's cats.

Acosta (pictured) was a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue employee.

"He was the best father a son could ever ask for," Mike Kensi Acosta posted on Facebook. "Thank you for being there for me my entire life. I only wish I could've returned the favor."
