SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. - A man was arrested after police say he followed a woman from Dadeland Mall and stole numerous Apple electronic products from her vehicle.

The South Miami Police Department said officers arrested Jose Antonio Bernal, 27, Wednesday on charges of grand theft, motor vehicle burglary and violation of probation.

Police said an investigation showed Bernal followed his victim to Dadeland Mall, where she was purchasing numerous electronic items such as iPhones and iPads.

After exiting the mall with numerous bags, including a large one from the Apple Store, police said Bernal followed the victim to her vehicle. That's when, police said, Bernal got in his car and started following the victim back to her place of business.

The victim then parked her vehicle in the building's secure parking garage, police said. Investigators said Bernal parked his vehicle in a no parking area in front of the garage and left his vehicle running.

Authorities said the Bernal and an unidentified co-defendant searched the parking garage for the victim's vehicle, locating it in the basement area, and then broke the driver's side window.

The defendants are accused of opening the trunk and removing the electronic items, fleeing to Bernal's vehicle, and leaving the area.

Authorities said surveillance cameras and numerous eye witnesses spotted the Bernal in the area of his vehicle and in the garage area next to the victim's car. Police said Detective King made identified, arrested and transported Bernal to the South Miami Police Department.
