COCONUT CREEK, Fla. - Police confirm skeletal remains found in Coconut Creek on Thursday are those of a missing Coral Springs woman.
According to police, two people found the remains while hiking at Tradewinds Park.
Police said Friday they have confirmed the remains are those of missing Coral Springs woman Maria Claudia Murphy. They used dental records to confirm her identity.
Murphy's relatives have been notified.
Police said the remains were found not too far from where in March video from a security camera showed Murphy standing on the northeast corner of Copans Road and Lyons Road.
It's still unknown if there were any personal belongings found nearby that may have belonged to the woman.
Murphy's family has long insisted she was on medication that could have left her disoriented, but investigators have said she appeared fine on the surveillance video.
Police don't know how long the remains have been in the park.
Tradewinds Park reopened on Friday morning.
