AVENTURA, Fla. - Police are trying to identify two men who tried to rob a guest at an Aventura hotel.

The attempted robbery occurred Monday night at the Residence Inn Marriott.

Aventura police said two men were captured on surveillance video entering the hotel through a back stairwell door about 4:30 p.m. They were seen going up and down the stairs several times, loitering near the elevators on different floors.

As a hotel guest walked toward the elevator about 7 p.m., one of the men pulled a gun on him while the other man demanded that he open the door to his room.

The hotel guest ran off and started to scream for help as one of the would-be robbers tried to open the door.

Both men left through the stairwell and got away.

Anyone who recognizes the men is asked to call Aventura police.
