Marijuana legalization advocate rules out Democratic bid for governor

Attorney John Morgan says he is registering to vote as an independent

ORLANDO, Fla. ā€“ John Morgan announcedĀ FridayĀ that he will not be seeking the Democratic party's nomination for Florida governor in 2018.Ā 

Morgan, anĀ advocate for marijuana legalization and Orlando personal injury attorney, tweeted that he was planning to register to vote as an independent and "vote for the lesser of two evils."

MorganĀ told the Orlando Sentinel that he was "a long way" from running as an independent.Ā Ā Ā 

The list of potential Democratic candidates includes former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum and Winter Park businessman Chris King.Ā 

The list of potential Republican candidates includes Rep. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Jack Latvala, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and House Speaker Richard Corcoran.Ā 

Gov. Rick Scott's second term ends January 2019.Ā
