Pence to attend Sunday church service in Coral Springs

Pence asks Florida Republicans to support Trump's health bill

PALM BEACH, Fla. – On Sunday morning, the Church by the Glades in Coral Springs will be expecting Vice President Mike Pence.

The church at 400 Lakeview Dr. begins their service about 10 a.m., but organizers were asking those in attendance to arrive about two hours earlier.

Before meeting with a conservative group in Palm Beach on Saturday, Pence met with Gov. Rick Scott for a rally at the Mac Papers Envelope Converted facility in Jacksonville.

Pence kept the focus on Trump's contentious health-care bill. He promised the small business owners who said they were unhappy with Obamacare that their nightmare was going to end soon.

Pence said the plan will allow states like Florida to include a work requirement for adults to receive Medicaid. The new bill was also set to end Obamacare's health insurance requirement and not force small businesses to offer health coverage.

Florida has more than 1.5 million enrolled in the federal insurance marketplace. Opponents of the bill are concerned with the Congressional Budget Office report claiming the new bill would increase the number of uninsured by 14 million in 2018 and 24 million in 2026.

"We need every Republican in Florida to support this plan," Pence said.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is among the Republicans who are not supporting the bill. She recently said that as the bill stands, it would reduce coverage for the poor and the elderly. Rep. Carlos Curbelo and Mario Diaz-Balart have also expressed concerns.
