WASHINGTON, DC - One day before the first Presidential debate, a brand new poll shows President Obama and Mitt Romney nearly tied in the race for the White House.

The Rasmussen Reports Presidential tracking poll for Tuesday shows the President with 48 percent support across the nation and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 47 percent support.

The survey of 1,500 likely voters was conducted by telephone over the last 3 days.

The margin of error is +/- 3 percent.

Rasmussen Reports polls traditionally favor Republicans.

The first Presidential debate is set for Wednesday night in Denver.
