The state of Florida has once again seen a record number of tourists.

Nearly 31.1 million people visited the sunshine state during the first three months of 2017. That's a 2.5 percent jump over the same time period in 2016, says Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

Scott is expected to be in south Florida Monday at Jungle Island to make an announcement on the record turnout.

Scott however, says the growth could be doomed if potential cuts are made to Florida's tourism marketing agency.

State legislators recently voted to cut funding to "Visit Florida" by 67 percent.

If the governor decides to sign the new budget, it will take effect in July.

Legislative leaders have defended the cuts by pointing to questionable Visit Florida contracts
