Relatives of missing mother, daughter from Doral ask public for help

Liliana Moreno, 43, Daniela Moreno, 8, last seen in May

DORAL, Fla. – A family is asking the public for help in finding out information about the disappearance of a woman and her 8-year-old daughter.

"It's been 100 days, and we don't know what's happened with them," Liliana Moreno's brother, Eduardo Moreno Ramirez, said.

Moreno's sister reported Moreno and her daughter, Daniela Moreno, missing in May after she wasn't able to contact her sister for two days.

When police arrived to the family's home in the Doral Terrace neighborhood, police found Moreno's wallet, a half-cooked meal and her car parked in the driveway.

The last person to see the pair was Daniela's father, Gustavo Castano, who told police that Moreno asked for him to drop off her and her daughter on Florida's Turnpike at Okeechobee Road.

Castano said he went to work and later returned to where he dropped the two off but could not find them.

Castano attempted to take his own life just days later.

Family members said he has not been helpful in the search for the mother and daughter.

"He doesn’t care about this," Ramirez said.

Police have not called Castano a person of interest in the case.

"This is a tragedy. This is an 8-year-old girl and her mother, and what we're doing is what we do with every case. We talk to our number one partner, which is our community," Miami-Dade police assistant director Alfredo Ramirez said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. The Moreno Ramirez family is pledging at least $20,000 to go toward a reward for anyone who comes forward with information that leads to an arrest.
