HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Police believe robbery may have been the motive behind the killings of a Canadian couple in January.

Neighbors found the bodies of Toronto natives David Pichosky, 72, and Rochelle Wise, 66, inside the couple's condominium at the Venetian Park townhouse complex in Hallandale Beach on Jan. 10.

The medical examiner ruled the two died of asphyxiation.

On Thursday, police said investigators realized Wise's wedding band was missing after analyzing and cataloging evidence.

Her ring is described as about size 6 1/2 with a platinum finish and five half carat white diamonds on the top of the ring in a half-moon shape. The ring may be engraved with "DCC" inside the band and has a size-adjustable locking mechanism located at the base of the ring. It's valued at $16,000.

"We know, through speaking with the family friend, she always wore her wedding ring, she was very proud of it, and she always had it on," said Hallandale Beach Police Capt. Sonia Quinones.

Detectives ask any pawn shop owners or jewelry exchange businesses to review their inventory and call police at 954-457-1438 if they are in possession of her ring or a similar one.

Investigators say the couple had attended a nearby Jewish temple and then went to a nearby Walmart on East Hallandale Beach Boulevard on Jan. 8.

They went home after visiting Walmart. On Jan. 9 about 8 a.m., they contacted a relative via Face Time.

Surveillance video captured a woman outside the couple's condo that day. Police are working to identify her.

Police said that crime scene evidence shows that more than one person was involved in the murder.

A $51,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 954-457-1438.
