FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A man was struck by a vehicle Sunday morning while on the marathon route for the Michelob Ultra 13.1 Fort Lauderdale, police said.

A witness who spoke to Local 10 News said the runner was struck on Las Olas Boulevard, east of the Floridian Restaurant.

"There was blood, so it must have been a pretty big impact," Ana Vento said.

The runner was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Fort Lauderdale police said.

Witnesses said the portion of Las Olas where the crash occurred was blocked to traffic.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash. The runner's shoe could be seen on the ground near the crash.
