South Fla. girl makes debut with Florida Grand Opera

Girl to perform 1 of lead roles in Mozart's 'Cosi fan tutte'

MIAMI ā€“ Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" is Florida Grand Opera's latest presentation.

A contemporary twist on a storyline fit for daytime TV, the show will run from Jan. 24-31 at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami and then for two more performances at the Broward Center in February.

About $400,000 in donations is needed to ensure the 2015-16 productions in Fort Lauderdale.

"A very supportive anonymous donor will match every contribution made until the end of the month of January," said Susan Danis of the Opera.

South Florida native Rebecca Henriques will be making her debut in front of her friends and family this week in Miami.

"I grew up here. The first opera I saw as a little girl was at the Florida Grand Opera," said Henriques. "I feel blessed to be having my debut here in front of everyone who has supported me."
