Teen in custody after bailing from police during traffic stop, authorities say

16-year-old arrested after vehicle stops on dead-end street

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy was arrested Friday morning after fleeing from police during a traffic stop in Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, an officer spotted a blue two-door car driving north in the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 159th Street with its high beams on.

The officer activated his siren and emergency lights, but the driver sped up, the report said.

Police said the teen turned off his lights at one point in an effort to hide from the officer in the dark.

The car finally came to a stop at a dead end and the teen got out of the car, jumped a fence and ran north, the report said.

He was taken into custody with the help of K-9s in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and 146th Street, police said.

The teen was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
