Teen Shot, Killed Near Miami Metrorail Station

17-Year-Old Boy Died From Injuries Sunday Night

MIAMI - A teenager died at Jackson Memorial Hospital sunday night, after being shot near the Brownsville Metrorail station.

Gary Bell, 17, was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital after shots were fired in the station's parking lot just off Northwest 52nd Street and Northwest 27th Avenue.

Doctors at the Ryder Trauma Center said the teen was not breathing on his own last night and his vital signs were unstable just before he died.

Bell's family says he was walking home from a friend's house when someone rode up on a bicycle and shot at him. They're still unsure what prompted the shooting.

"I feel like my heart just stopped pumping," Gary's mother, Leslie Taylor, said through tears. "I can't lose my baby. He's only 17 years old."

Police say Bell shot back at the person on the bicycle, and that person is now recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
