Thief steals gold necklace from Oakland Park Flea Market on Valentine's Day

Man takes off with $6,500 gold necklace with religious pendant

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for a thief who stole an expensive gold necklace on Valentine's Day at the Oakland Park Flea Market.

Surveillance video shows the man getting out of a dark-colored SUV just after 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14 and checking out the selection at Rambo Jewelry.

Detectives said the man left the jewelry counter three times before putting a $6,500 necklace with a religious pendant on his neck.

But instead of paying for the necklace, the thief ran off, getting back into the waiting SUV.

The thief was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts and black sneakers that have red coloring on the heels.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Detective Eric Versteeg at 954-202-3131 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
