Toddler suffers burns on 40 percent of body in Lauderhill

Child rushed to Broward Health Medical Center

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A 3-year-old girl was seriously burned Monday night in Lauderhill, authorities said.

The incident, which involved boiling water, was reported about 7 p.m. at a home on Blueberry Court.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue Department officials said the child had suffered second-degree burns on 40 percent of her body.

The child was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center and will be transferred to a burn unit.

The girl’s mother was home at the time. It's unclear if other people were inside the residence.

An investigation is underway to determine how the girl was burned. It's not known if the incident was accidental.

No other details were immediately released.
