Transit service extended for Ultra

Metrorail, Metromover hours extended to 1 a.m. for weekend

MIAMI - Metrorail and Metromover service hours will be extended to accommodate the large crowds expected to attend the Ultra Music Festival 2013 in downtown Miami this weekend, Miami-Dade Transit announced.

Metrorail and Metromover service will be extended to run until 1:00 a.m from Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24.

Extra Metromover cars will be placed on Metromover's Omni Loop to provide more frequent service for those attending the upcoming Miami Heat games and Alicia Keys concert.

The frequency of trains on Saturday and Sunday is as follows:

  • Green Line and Orange Line trains each provide service approximately every 30 minutes.
  • Transit riders can expect a train approximately every 15 minutes at stations between Dadeland South and Earlington Heights stations since both Orange Line and Green Line trains serve all stations between Dadeland South and Earlington Heights stations.
  • Trains will depart approximately every 30 minutes from the Miami International Airport Station.

Transit supervisors and staff will be at various Metrorail and Metromover stations to assist passengers as needed.

To avoid long lines at the ticket vending machines, Miami-Dade Transit highly encourages Ultra Music Festival and other event goers to load their EASY Card or EASY Ticket early. Event goers are encouraged to purchase a round trip on Metrorail ($4), or a 1-Day Pass ($5 per day and good until 2:00 a.m. the following day) if also using bus service. Parking fees ($4 daily) will apply at Metrorail stations where parking facilities are available. Everyone rides free on Metromover.
