Veterans Day events in South Florida

Many cities holding parades, festivals

Many South Florida cities and organizations are holding special events for Veterans Day, here are a few of the more popular events:

Miami Beach Veterans Day Parade: Starts at 9:00 a.m. at Washington Ave. and 17th St. and moves to Flamingo Park Baseball Stadium. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz will act as Grand Marshal. A ceremony will be held at the baseball stadium at 10:15 a.m.

Fort Lauderdale Veterans Day Ceremony:11:00 a.m. at Sandy Ninninger Statue on the Riverwalk. Guest speakers include Mayor Jack Seiler, and Commissioners Chip LaMarca and Tim Ryan.

Hialeah Veterans Day Ceremony:11:00 a.m. at Triangle Park on Palm Ave. at Okeechobee Road. Mayor Carlos Hernandez in attendance.

UM Veterans Day Ceremony:President Donna Shalala will host at ceremony at The Rock on campus at 10:00 a.m.

North Miami Veterans Day Ceremony:10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Griffing Park, West Dixie Highway at 123rd St.

Pembroke Pines Veterans Day Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. at Pembroke Pines City Center at 10300 Pines Boulevard.

Margate Veterans Day Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park, 7044 NW 1st St.

Hallandale Beach Veterans Ceremony: 9:00 a.m. at the Hallandale Cemetery, then at the Cultural Community Center.

Plantation Veterans Day Program: 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Park, 1776 Lauderdale West Drive.
