Video catches Amazon delivery person tossing packages over fence

Amazon spokesman says expectation is for 'every package to be handled with care'

MIAMI – A Miami doctor claims an Amazon delivery person threw his packages into his front yard without waiting for him to answer the doorbell.

Surveillance video from the southwest Miami-Dade County home shows a delivery person heaving two packages over a security fence after she briefly pauses to ring the homeowner inside.

The alleged package toss occurred Sunday afternoon.

The doctor, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he immediately contacted Amazon to report the incident. He claims Amazon agreed the delivery was bad, but they refused his request to disallow the delivery service from being used for his packages again.

The woman in the video is from AMZ_L, which is short for Amazon Logistics, a delivery service operated by Amazon itself.

The company's website says that if no one is home when a package is delivered the driver will leave the package in a secure location.

“We have high standards for our delivery partners and expect every package to be handled with care," said Amazon spokesperson Ernesto Apreza. "We've notified the right teams internally and will continue to work with the customer directly on matters related to their package delivery.”

The doctor said the packages contained bike helmets, but worries what happens when he orders more fragile items.
