Video shows pharmacy van robbery

3 men carjack driver of van delivering pharmaceuticals to Midtown Pharmacy in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Surveillance video captured three men, one who was armed, carjacking the driver of a van delivering pharmaceuticals and other products to a Miami Beach pharmacy.

The carjacking happened outside Midtown Pharmacy at 753 Arthur Godfrey Road on Friday afternoon.

Surveillance video showed the driver unloading the van when a man in a hoodie, crouching as he approached, put a gun in his face. Two more men quickly walked to the van, got inside, and seconds later, they drove away. When police arrived, the driver of the van was pacing outside the back door of the pharmacy.

"Yeah, he could have gotten hurt, and the other one that happened in Hollywood, they actually tied him up. It was more like a tie job -- a lot more violent," said Miami Beach Police Det. Bobby Hernandez. "This, he did the right thing. He didn't resist, he gave them the van, he called 911 immediately."

It's the first time a robbery has happened at the Midtown Pharmacy. Detectives believe the men were following the van.

"So it was totally planned event, and we're hoping to crack them, and we're sure there will be other cases we can help other agencies with," said Hernandez.

The most expensive drug in the van was Cialis.

The white Econoline Ford van that was stolen has a Florida tag of 058TPA.
