'Bear in driveway': UPS delivery hits snag

Package left in mailbox rather than on porch

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - A North Carolina UPS delivery driver left a note with an unusual explanation as to why he couldn’t leave a package on a porch.

Marcy Lanier arrived at her Asheville home and found the package and note in her mailbox.

The note simply read “Bear in driveway.”

"We get bears all the time," she told WLOS-TV.

Lanier said the driver usually leaves packages on the front porch, but this time, his effort was thwarted.

"There was a bear in the driveway, so he couldn't drop it off on my front porch…. He could stay safe in his truck, on the road," she explained.
