Deputies said the victim told them that he and his wife left their Stock Island home on the morning of March 31 with their doors locked. When they returned that evening, they found the house in disarray and many items stolen.

The stolen items included a large amount of jewelry, a gun, sunglasses, several purses, an Apple MacBook, an iPad, a PlayStation, an Xbox, a safe and miscellaneous identification documents.

The victim called detectives June 13 when he found a photo taken with his stolen iPad that was uploaded to his iCloud shared photo album.

Cruz was the woman whom he recognized as his neighbor. She was sitting on the bed looking through a black safe, which he recognized as having been stolen in the burglary, deputies said.

The photo was dated the day of the burglary, March 31, at 11:24 a.m. The geographical tag on the photo showed it was taken at an apartment where Cruz and Grinion were confirmed to have been staying, deputies said.

A search warrant was served at the apartment June 15. Deputies said the women weren't there, but the furniture inside the apartment matched those described in the photo.
