Pet alligators found in vacant Pittsburgh home

Landlord discovers animals after tenants evicted

Tenants recently evicted from a Pittsburgh home left behind their pets: two alligators.

Animal control officers were called to the home Wednesday after the landlord discovered the reptiles, KDKA reported.

The animals were taken to Humane Animal Rescue, where they will be taken care of indefinitely.

Veterinary technicians said the alligators appear to be healthy and are between the ages of 1 and 5.

“It is legal to own them in the state of Pennsylvania, so we may adopt them out. We may transport them to another state and release them,” Dan Rossi, the Humane Animal Rescue CEO, told KDKA.
