PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - U.S. Rep. Allen West is asking a Florida judge to order a recount for one county in his congressional race.

West and eight St. Lucie County early voters filed a complaint Tuesday.

The Republican incumbent is asking the court to order St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker and Florida Secretary of State Dan Detzner to convene a canvassing board to recount all early voting ballots cast in West's race against Democrat Patrick Murphy and to refrain from certifying results until the recount is complete.

A partial recount Sunday gave West a slight bump over Murphy. West is arguing that a more extensive recount could uncover additional errors.

Telephone and email messages left for Murphy's attorney weren't immediately returned.

A telephone message left at the St. Lucie County elections office wasn't returned.
