Shamari Patrick is accused of stealing a Boynton Beach woman's dog and then selling the dog via Craigslist.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A South Florida woman was arrested after she stole a dog while the owner was out of the country and sold the 4-year-old shih-teese to a Wellington woman, police said.

Shamari Patrick was arrested Sunday night at a Boynton Beach motel. She faces a grand theft charge.

Boynton Beach police said Patrick replied to a Craigslist advertisement in search of a dog sitter. She agreed to watch Fluffy while the owner was away, but when the owner returned, Patrick was nowhere to be found.

According to the arrest report, Patrick sold Fluffy to another woman via Craigslist.

The woman who bought Fluffy told police she paid $300 for the dog, which Patrick named Maverick, and didn't know the dog had been stolen. She said Patrick told her she couldn't take care of the dog anymore.

A detective brought Fluffy to the Boynton Beach Police Department, where the dog and owner were reunited.
