Dr. Michael Bell confirmed the cause of death in an email Wednesday.

"I will not comment further at this time," Bell said.

Palm Beach Zoo spokeswoman Nakia Carter hasn't released the identity of the tiger responsible, but she said the tiger is now the target of threats.

Zoo officials and multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating Konwiser's death.

"The zoo continues to cooperate with multiple agencies involving the tragedy," Carter said in a statement Tuesday. "The zoo is an organization deeply committed to species survival. The zoo has no interest in assisting, allowing or encouraging blame on one of only 250 Malayan tigers remaining in existence."
