Woman struck, killed by Tri-Rail train in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday morning by a Tri-Rail train, according to the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department.

In a tweet Monday morning, the department said the woman was struck south of Sunrise Boulevard at about 7:15 a.m. by a train that was heading north.

Tri-Rail spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold said 220 people were onboard the train at the time. The passengers were transferred onto a different train.

Arnold said bus bridges are being operated between the Fort Lauderdale station and the Cypress Creek station.

Minimal delays for commuters were being reported.
