Worker falls from scaffolding in Miami Beach

Man taken to hospital in critical condition

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A worker fell from scaffolding outside a luxury condominium Thursday afternoon in Miami Beach.

The man fell while he was working on the seventh floor of the L'Excellence condominiums, 5757 Collins Ave., Miami Beach police Officer Ernesto Rodriguez said.

Sky 10 flew above the scene as the scaffolding was on the ground outside the building.

 

Rodriguez said the victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

The owner of GC Construction told Local 10 News reporter Michael Seiden that his employee, Jorge Cabada, fell one story and was conscious and stable.

Detectives and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating how the worker fell.
