Hollywood woman's dog stolen from home on Valentine's Day

Woman desperate to find missing dog in need of medication

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A Hollywood woman's heart is broken after her dog was stolen during a home burglary on Valentine's Day.

The woman, who asked only to be identified as Lynn, said she was visiting loved ones at a cemetery when she returned home to find her home had been burglarized.

"It's hard to express the feeling that you have when somebody enters your house, and goes through your things and steals from you when you spend a lifetime of working to obtain what you have," Lynn told Local 10 News.

Lynn said someone threw a brick through her patio door to get inside and ransack her home, stealing valuable jewelry and other items.

"There's pieces that I collected for years, pieces that have been in the family, my mother's things, that can't be replaced, no matter what price tag you put on it," she said.

In addition to stealing jewelry and electronics, the thief or thieves also got away with Lynn's best friend.

"The first thing I said was, 'Where's the dog?' Lynn recalled. "I said, 'Where's the dog? The dog is gone.'"

Daisy, an 8-year-old Maltese-poodle mix, is in need of her medication.

"Losing a pet is difficult enough when they're old and they're sick, but having one taken and stolen from you is just devastating," Lynn said.

Lynn is slowing piecing her life back together, but an important part of it is still missing.

"There's a hole in my heart that she's not here," Lynn said.

Lynn has placed flyers throughout her neighborhood in the hopes of finding Daisy. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood police or Lynn at 954-294-8663.
