Fort Lauderdale Strikers beat Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-1

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-1 in a Florida Derby match Saturday at Lockhart Stadium.

"The first half was the best from this team of the season so far," said Strikers head coach Günter Kronsteiner. "We were very concentrated and there were a lot of chances we had to defend. Nobody expected that we could beat them."

Martin Nuñez scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute, and Bradlee Baladez netted the eventual winner in the 86th.

Carl Cort scored the lone goal for the Rowdies four minutes into stoppage time at the end of the second half.
