JUPITER, Fla. – Marlins ace Jose Fernandez took a big step back on his road to recovery.
For the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery, Fernandez threw off the mound on Thursday.
Fernandez threw 15 pitches.
All of them were fastballs.
He will work on his breaking stuff, later down the line.
The Marlins plan to have Fernandez work off the mound twice a week.
