Ross gives Philbin one-year extension
Coach will not enter season as lame duck
MIAMI – Joe Philbin will enter the 2015 season with a contract extension.
Owner Stephen Ross confirmed a one-year extension to reporters at the owners' meetings in Arizona.
The four-year contract Philbin signed in 2012 was set to expire at the end of the season.
Ross did not want his head coach to enter the season as a lame duck.
There was speculation that Philbin could be fired near the end of the 2014 season, but Ross gave his head coach a vote of confidence.
