Reports: Deng opts in, stays with Heat

Forward will not explore free agency

MIAMI – Forward Luol Deng has decided to opt in and will return to the Miami Heat.

Deng has played one season with Miami, after signing as a free agent.

The forward averaged 14 points a game for the Heat.

After acquiring him last offseason, President Pat Riley praised Deng as a potential cornerstone of the Heat future.

Miami drafted forward Justise Winslow, who could now learn from Deng.

Dwyane Wade has not declared if he will opt in to the final year of his contract, or explore free agency.
