The former Florida State safety and NFL first-round draft pick has been head football coach at Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines since 2013 and won a state championship last year.

His son, prized recruit Devin Bush Jr., chose the Wolverines and former NFL coach Jim Harbaugh over Florida State.

"It's all about Devin Bush Jr. right now, and it's his time and where he's gonna play," Bush told Local 10 News after Bush Jr. announced his decision in December.

Bush Jr., ranked the No. 12 outside linebacker in the nation, played for his father at Flanagan and now will get the chance to do so again at Michigan.

"A lot of Florida kids go to Florida schools, so, I mean, I'm gonna be one of the few who go leave Florida and go do something else," Bush Jr. told Local 10.

Apparently, his father decided that it was time to do something else as well.

Bush, 42, helped guide the Seminoles to their first national championship in 1993 before becoming a first-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1995. He spent eight seasons in the NFL with the Falcons, St. Louis Rams and Cleveland Browns, amassing seven interceptions -- two of which were returned for touchdowns -- and appearing in two Super Bowls during his career.
