Second-ranked Hurricanes top No. 8 FSU with comeback win in Tallahassee

Miami rallies in seventh inning for 4-2 victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Second-ranked Miami won its eighth straight game Thursday night, rallying in the seventh inning to defeat No. 8 Florida State 4-2.

Trailing for most of the game, the Hurricanes took the lead in the seventh inning and added an insurance run in the eighth.

The Hurricanes (42-9, 21-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) were outhit 6-4 and fell behind early after the Seminoles (33-18, 15-9 ACC) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Florida State junior Jim Voyles (6-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season, surrendering two runs -- one earned -- in 1 2/3 innings while walking three Miami hitters.

Miami junior Bryan Garcia picked up his ACC-leading 13th save of the season, good enough for second place in team history with 38.

The Seminoles have lost five of their last six games.
