7 Hurricanes named to All-ACC Baseball teams

Junior catcher Zack Collins becomes back-to-back first-team selection

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Seven University of Miami baseball players received all-conference honors, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday.

Junior catcher Zack Collins was the sole representative on the All-ACC first team.

Collins, who was a first-team selection last year, becomes Miami's first back-to-back first-team pick since Jon Jay in 2006. He batted .381 in the regular season with a team-high 11 home runs and 51 RBI for the Hurricanes. He also led the ACC in on-base percentage and walks.

Senior shortstop Brandon Lopez, sophomore outfielder Carl Chester, junior outfielder Willie Abreu, sophomore pitcher Michael Mediavilla and junior closer Bryan Garcia were named to the third team.

Right-handed pitcher Frankie Bartow earned a place on the ACC All-Freshman team.
