"Tyler has decided to transfer away from our football program in the hopes of gaining more playing time," first-year head coach Mark Richt said in a statement. "I certainly respect his decision and I wish him nothing but the best in his future college football career."

Grimsley redshirted in 2014 and did not play in a game last season.

He becomes the fourth Miami player to leave school since Richt became coach of the Hurricanes in December, joining sophomore wide receiver Tyler Brady, sophomore tight end Jerome Washington and junior linebacker Marques Gayot.
