MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, 42, dies in Coral Springs hospital

Kimbo had a heart attack, sources say

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Kimbo Slice, a mixed martial arts fighter, died  in a Coral Springs hospital Monday, sources have confirmed with Local 10 News. 

Kimbo, whose real name was Kevin Ferguson, had a heart attack, sources said, and had been living with an enlarged heart. 

The fighter was 42-years-old. 

"We are all shocked and sadden by the devastating and untimely loss loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family," Scott Coker, the president of Bellator said in a statement. "One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport. Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."
