Hurricanes to play George Washington in home-and-home series

Miami to host Colonials in December, travel to Washington in 2017

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami basketball head coach Jim Larranaga will face a familiar foe in a home-and-home series announced Thursday.

The Hurricanes will host George Washington in Coral Gables on Dec. 22. They will then travel to Washington in December 2017.

Larranaga is no stranger to the Colonials, having coached at Atlantic 10 Conference rival George Mason for 14 seasons before leaving for Miami.

Miami is 0-3 all-time against George Washington. The Hurricanes fell to George Washington in overtime in their last meeting in 2013.

"The Colonials are the reigning NIT champion and a perennial contender in the Atlantic 10 Conference," Larranaga said in a statement. "They will be a very strong opponent for us late in the non-conference schedule, just before we begin ACC play."

Miami previously announced it will host Rutgers in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. The complete non-conference schedule will be released later this summer.
